DESCRIPTION:In this beginning class\, students will learn how to wind a war
 p\, use the back-to-front method of winding the warp on the floor loom\, a
 nd follow all the necessary steps for preparing the loom for weaving. Stud
 ents will learn the basics of weaving technique while weaving a sampler th
 at will serve as a reference for future projects. After sampling and maste
 ring the basic weaving motions\, students will continue weaving their own 
 project: either a scarf or a table runner. Class discussions and demonstra
 tions will focus on the basic components of a weaving draft\, how to calcu
 late warp and weft\, and how to plan your first project. The course will e
 xplore weaving resources for the new weaver and more. Time will be availab
 le to coach individual students on weaving interests and project ideas. Th
 is class requires good eyesight to see fine detail. Vision aids welcome.
