DESCRIPTION:Fingerweaving is one of many traditional methods utilizing ordi
 nary materials to make beautiful objects for use in daily life. Starting w
 ith medium-weight wool yarn\, we’ll set up our project using wooden sticks
 . A hatband and bag strap are easy to complete during the class\, but thos
 e who wish to make a wider and longer belt/sash or scarf will need to do s
 ome homework beyond class time. First\, we will cover the colored bands\, 
 diamonds\, and lightning patterns. Then\, the students will select a patte
 rn and project\, whether to make several smaller projects with various pat
 terns or a larger single pattern project. Optional evening sessions will i
 nclude more advanced pattern techniques. A variety of samples of woven wor
 k will be available for discussion. Students are encouraged to bring their
  own yarns\, but a small selection of yarn will be available for purchase 
 ($50 and up). This course is open to students ages 14+. Youth ages 12+ are
  welcome to register with an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two pr
 ojects. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when regist
 ering with a full-paying adult\; call to register. Required Tools Students
  are asked to bring their own yarns. The recommended type for beginners is
  Lamb’s Pride Bulky\, 85% wool/15% mohair\, 4oz skeins\, available from ma
 ny yarn stores and online retailers. Bring 3-5 skeins in different colors.
