DESCRIPTION:The wooden bowl is a reflection of both utility and beauty—an i
 nspiring craft form to experience. Explore the grains of northern birch as
  you learn the safe operation and techniques needed to turn wooden bowls o
 n an electric lathe. From tree to bowl\, working with fresh-cut wood\, lea
 rn how to identify the best parts of a tree for a bowl blank and how to or
 ient stock for the best grain patterns to match the outcomes you desire. T
 o ensure longevity and finishing of the bowl\, drying techniques will also
  be covered. Students will take home a traditional utility bowl for the ki
 tchen. The materials fee includes all wood for projects plus the use of in
 dividual lathes and sets of tools. Required Tools Closed-toed footwear PPE
 - safety glasses and hearing protection are provided for students and requ
 ired for certain tools in our workshops\, but you may wish to bring your o
 wn for fit and comfort All other required tools/materials are provided by 
 your instructor and North House and will be available once the course begi
 ns.
