SUMMARY:Long-stitch Bookbinding: the Medieval Paperback\, with Anneka Baird
URL:https://feralskills.com/events/long-stitch-bookbinding-the-medieval-pap
 erback-with-anneka-baird-2026-11-20
STATUS:CONFIRMED
DESCRIPTION:The Long-stitch has been used as far back as the 14th century a
s a stationary binding and as a temporary binding for books with more elab
orate (and expensive) futures. This simple multi-section structure allows
for a virtually unlimited number of pages and is well-suited for sketchboo
ks\, notebooks and journals. It is also a popular structure for artists' b
ooks as the spine lends itself readily to decoration. In addition to bindi
ng a book (or two\, if time permits) you will learn some basic bookbinding
terms\, understand quality and anatomy of paper and how to use it to best
effect\, and techniques for folding and cutting paper. This class is an e
xcellent option for first-time book-binders. Words from past participants
"Instructor took care to explain concepts multiple times and in different
ways so everyone felt supported. It was fun to meet people and learn a new
craft together. The environment was very welcoming for beginners\, so I f
elt comfortable asking for help and making mistakes." "It was concise\, in
teresting\, and informative. The instructor was willing to work with each
student to make sure they were able to understand and complete the project
. I had a really great time\, worth the 3 hour drive." Interested in more
bookbinding techniques? Stick around for Anneka's afternoon class\, Coptic
