DESCRIPTION:Acorns have long been a staple for many cultures around the wor
 ld\, and an excellent example of how forests have long provided for our hu
 man kind. This half-day program will teach participants how to process aco
 rns they have gathered into nutritious food by one of two leaching methods
 . We will learn efficient cracking\, shelling\, milling\, leaching\, and s
 ome good ways to use the final products. Date: Sunday\, November 15\, 2026
  Time: 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM Ages: 12+ (ages 12-17 with a participating adult)
  Location: Rural La Farge\, WI Instructions: Students are welcome to bring
  a notebook to take notes\, and a nutpick to help shell acorns if you have
  one. Feel free to bring a water bottle or snack if you wish. Sliding Scal
 e Course Fee Guidelines Supporter Level Ticket: $125 If you move through t
 he world with financial ease and the means to fulfill many of your wants a
 s well as your needs – you are able to eat out when you want\, abundantly 
 meet your needs through employment or can comfortably not work\, have acce
 ss to family wealth\, own property\, etc. – consider paying at this level\
 , which will help us ensure the long term sustainability of our programs w
 hile keeping our offerings accessible to those with access to fewer resour
 ces. Sustainer Level Ticket: $100 If you are able to meet your needs with 
 relative ease while budgeting your educational and entertainment spending 
 – for instance\, you are able to take classes and eat out occasionally as 
 long as you are mindful – consider paying at this level\, which will help 
 sustain the work of the Folk School at a modest level. Supported Level Tic
 ket: $75 If you struggle to fund your basic needs and have limited access 
 to resources in your family and community\, or if you would not be able to
  access this offering without a discounted payment option\, consider payin
