DESCRIPTION:Traditional sheepskin with a tanned leather back requires that 
 the sheep make the ultimate sacrifice\, yet it doesn’t have to be so! Inst
 ructor Becky Utecht has developed a modern approach to an age-old craft. U
 sing felting techniques\, students in this course will start with a few po
 unds of unwashed sheep fleece and transform it into a luxuriously soft and
  cushiony sit-upon or small rug\, all without harming a sheep and retainin
 g the lovely natural form of the fleece. Shepherds and fiber lovers will a
 ppreciate the efficiency of washing and felting fleece at the same time\, 
 and fans of fuzzy chair pads and rugs will enjoy discovering the different
  types of wool available\, as there will be ample conversation about the n
 uances and qualities of different breeds. Students will be able to get cre
 ative with colorful design as well - sheepy on the front and your own desi
 gn on the back! The materials fee collected at registration includes backi
 ng fiber and embellishing fibers\, felting needle\, handouts\, and use of 
 equipment in class. Required Tools 2 to 3 lbs of unwashed fleece. More inf
 ormation and ideas about where to procure this will be provided after regi
 stration. Expect to spend $20-$45. 2 old bath towels Garden watering can w
 ith sprinkler head ** 5 gallon bucket ** Plastic bag for wet items ** The 
 instructor will have extra buckets and watering cans on hand for anyone wh
 o is unable to bring them. Optional Tools Apron Felting needles or needle

 Plan to arrive a day earlier for Fiber Friday on Friday\, February 12\, wh
 ich features demonstrations\, speakers\, and community gatherings offered
