 r age\, see details.\nGet hands-on experience digging and processing marsh
 mallow (Althaea officinalis) root into marshmallow\, an original ingredien
 t of the traditional confection. In the 1700s marshmallow root was a major
  ingredient of marshmallows. In the early 1800s\, the recipe had gum arabi
 c replace most of the marshmallow. In the late 1800s\, marshmallow root wa
 s totally replaced with gelatin\, which reflects much of what we buy today
  in the store. By the end of the workshop we’ll have gone from marshmallow
  taproots to a marshmallow cream that you would enjoy just like marshmallo
 ws of today. The cream can be used like marshmallow or marshmallow cream. 
 We’ll make smores and creamy appetizers at the end of the workshop. Some s

 sliding scales are offered to support individual financial circumstances. 
  We ask participants to pay what they feel they can afford within the rang
 e offered for each workshop.  You decide what to pay using an honest asses
 sment of your individual circumstances.  We do not ask anyone to explain t
 heir very personal decision.  The high end is a very reasonable price for 
 these quality workshops for those who are doing well in this economy. Grou
 ps must contact us for circumstance-specific rates. \nDiscounts\n$5 Discou
 nts are available on our Registration Form for adult family members that a
 ttend together\, persons identifying as indigenous\, full time college stu
 dents and scout leaders. Children (17 and under) must be accompanied by th
 eir parent(s). Children under 7 are free. Children 7 and above pay their a
 ge. Classrooms and teachers with students are not eligible for these disco
 unts and must contact us for circumstance-specific rates. \nRefund & Trans
 fer Policies\nIf you cannot attend a workshop you registered for\, and you
  contact us immediately\, or at the latest\, the last weekday before the e
 vent\, you are entitled to a transfer or refund minus a $5 processing fee.
  If you do not show up the day of a workshop you registered for\, you forf
 eit the full amount paid. \n\nEnrollment Limited! – Advanced registration 
 reserves you a place in the workshop. Walk-ons may be turned away if our s
 ize limit is reached. When registering by mail\, assume a workshop is open
